I just watched my son lose his fourth football game in a row. It is disheartening for me as both a father and a coach. Last year we almost one the championship, this year we can't even make a showing. It is easy to draw parallels between sports and life... but there is one huge difference in losing the game of life. You don't get a returning season. No matter how my sons team finishes this year there is always next season, but when the fourth quarter is over in the last game of life... well it all depends on how you played... or maybe it's better said; '' It all depends on who you played for''. So how about it, who's team are you on? Some people would like to believe that there are several teams to decide upon. There's the team of self desire, the team of career, the team of financial freedom, sexual conquest, family, freedom... and on and on. But, when you really boil it down there are only two teams, Gods team and any one playing against Him. Gods take on sportsmanship is you are either playing for Him or against him.
Jesus says in Matthew 12:30:
"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.
So do you scatter your own seed, or His? When it's all over there will be only one victor, and the team you play on has everything to do with whether or not you Win, Lose or Fall.
